Admission Standards
Two separate nursing classes are admitted each calendar year at six months intervals. Qualified applicants will be notified of program admission only after completion of all application requirements.
Standards
1. High school graduate or its equivalent (GED). The applicant must show proof of graduation from an approved high school. (As defined by the state of Pennsylvania) or possess a General Equivalence Diploma. Official transcripts and/or GED scores will be requested. High school transcripts are evaluated on a individual basis, but a "C" average is preferred.
2.On the Test of Essential Academic Skills (TEAS V) Exam, you must achieve at least an Adjusted Individual Total Score of 56.0%, a 65.0% on the Reading Section and a 50.0% on the Math Section. The Practical Nursing Program administers the TEAS Exam as a group examination several times a year. Interested individuals need to pre-register for the Exam. ***The applicant is responsible for the examination fee of $50.00, due at the time of registration.***
3. Complete a personal interview with the program coordinator or faculty as scheduled by the program office.
4. Three satisfactory written personal references.
5. Evidence of good physical and mental health, by the first day of class, as evidence by a physical examination that is completed prior to admission. The examination may be performed by a license physician, doctor of osteopathy, or a certified nurse practitioner. Applicants are responsible for all costs incurred with the examination.
6. A complete dental examination is required by the program. Applicants are responsible for all costs incurred with the examination.
Any individual who meets the admission criteria as described, may make application for admission to the Practical Nursing Program. Class size is limited and students will be admitted on first come, first serve basis. If all seats are filled in one class, the applicants will be held until the next class.
