Emergency Medical Technician - Evening Classes
Emergency Medical Technicians provide out-of-hospital emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients who access the emergency medical services (EMS) system. EMTs have the basic knowledge and skills necessary to stabilize and safely transport patients ranging from non-emergency and routine medical transports to life-threatening emergencies. Emergency Medical Technicians function as part of a comprehensive EMS response system under medical oversight. Emergency Medical Technicians perform interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance.

Medical Assistant Program     
900 clock hours, daytime

The Fayette County Career & Technical Institute’s Medical Assistant program prepares students for a profession in the daily operations of medical offices, clinics, and various healthcare facilities. Training includes administrative duties, medical records, medical billing and coding, laboratory procedures, and exam room preparations and procedures.

The Medical Assistant program is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA/CESS). Graduates meet all requirements to sit for the National Healthcare Association exam (CCMA) and the Certified Phlebotomy Technician exam (CPT).

 

This program is Title IV funded. Students will complete a FAFSA and apply for the Federal PELL Grant and Student Loans.

Medical Assisting

Nurse Aide Training                                                       
120 clock hours, evening/weekend

The Fayette County Career & Technical Institute’s Nurse Aide training program prepares students to provide efficient and compassionate nursing care. Nurse Aide’s play a vital role in patient care. Student training includes infection control, patient safety techniques, abuse prevention, restorative care, and understanding death and dying. 


Students completing the program will have met all requirements to sit for the Pennsylvania State Certified Nurse Aide exam to become a CNA. The Nurse Aide program is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education.

This program receives funding through employers and the PA Careerlink.

Nurse Aide Certificate - Colorado Mountain College
 

Practical Nursing Program 
1500 clock hours, daytime

A one-year fast-paced nursing program where students will learn to develop enhanced clinical judgement to utilize as practical nurses. A multitude of skills, including patient assessment and charting, injections, IV’s, catheterization, wound care, and medication administration, are just some areas a student will master upon completing the program. The Fayette County Career & Technical Institute also provides students with the opportunity to complete a preceptorship during their final level of instruction. The student will shadow and perform duties with a nurse in preparation for job placement.

The Fayette County Career & Technical Institute’s Practical Nursing program maintains approval from the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA/CESS).

Graduates of our Practical Nursing program meet all requirements and standards set forth by the PA State Board of Nursing to sit for their NCLEX-PN Licensure exam to become a Licensed Practical Nurse.
