 PA Safety Inspector

Pennsylvania Safety Inspector classes are short-term classes designed to give technicians the instruction needed to earn the PA State Safety Inspector License.   The classes meet six times a year and consist of 4 nights-16 hours, plus the tactile exam. 

Category 1: 
PASSENGER CARS AND LIGHT TRUCKS
17,000 pounds or less gross vehicle weight
TRAILERS
10,000 pounds or less registered gross weight  
Category 2:  MOTORCYCLES
Category 3:
HEAVY DUTY CLASS IS ALSO AVAILABLE 
Trucks over 17,000 Pounds Gross Vehicle Weight
Trailers over 10,000 Pounds Registered Gross Weight
School Buses (P Endorsement Required on Driver’s License)
Mass Transit Vehicles (P Endorsement Required on Driver’s License
Category 4:  Enhanced (Certification Safety Inspection Mechanic-EVSI and Certified Document Reviewer-CDR)


This includes the inspection and titling of vehicles requiring a branded title (re-constructed, specially constructed, modified, flood, recovered theft, collectible vehicles, and street rods). 
All candidates must have a valid driver’s license.  All the materials will be provided to the student on the first night of class.

Pennsylvania State Emissions License

The Pennsylvania Emissions Inspection Certification class is for the automotive technician who is aspiring to become PennDOT emissions certified.   The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation has designed the class to provide initial certification for emissions inspectors. Class meets for one night of theory and one night for an online exam. All candidates must have a valid driver’s license.  All the materials will be provided to the student on the first night of class. Collision Repair Technology

The Collision Repair Technology program consists of a 900-hour course dedicated to training the student in the art of collision repair and refinishing. The program will offer theory and hands-on training, including damage analysis, body repair, and refinishing. The student will also learn the removal of dents and imperfections in sheet metal, methods of refinishing, types of finishes, and replacement of parts. Included in the course are PA State Inspection, PA Emissions, OSHA10, and MACS 609.

Diesel Technology

This 900-hour, full-time Diesel Technology course will educate and prepare the student to achieve a high-level competency in the Diesel Transportation Field. Upon completion of this 900-hour intense Diesel Technology program, the student will be able to enter the job market as an entry-level or higher technician. The curriculum for this course is based on the PA Program of Study.  The student will have hands-on training from an ASE Certified Instructor in the truck and heavy equipment field. Students will learn every aspect of the trucks, from hydraulics and transmissions to refrigeration systems and engine diagnostics. The students will receive training for categories 1 & 3 for the PA State inspection license and the EPA 609 for automotive refrigeration. Also included will be OSHA 10-General Industry and forklift training.  PA State Emissions Inspector Certification is available upon request. 

Basic Auto Mechanics 

The Basic Auto Mechanic Technology program consists of a 150-hour course dedicated to training the student to enter into the high-demand profession of auto mechanics. The program will offer theory and hands-on training, which would allow the student to obtain an entry-level auto mechanic position.  The course will include training on how to conduct a PA State Inspection, and the student will obtain their PA State Inspector's license.  Also, included in the course will be a PA Emissions license, and MACS EPA 609 certificate.
